Opti-flor, a producer of high-quality orchids, has implemented Hoogendoorn’s IIVO system to optimize their cultivation processes. With 19 hectares of cultivation area spread across six locations and an annual production of approximately 8 million plants, Opti-flor supplies premium garden centers and florists throughout Europe. The IIVO system has contributed to improved monitoring and more efficient management of the cultivation process.
“IIVO puts me in the lead to make the right decisions, as I can create various clear and detailed graphs, which help me consistently make the right choices,” says Roy Stijger, grower at Opti-flor. Thanks to these insights, the company can respond more quickly and accurately to changes in the cultivation environment.
The system has also simplified the management of climate data and energy by clustering multiple cultivation locations. This centralization allows for more efficient data analysis, enabling faster decision-making in a dynamic industry.
Opti-flor manages a complex energy infrastructure with various sources, such as combined heat and power (CHP), heat storage tanks and a geothermal system. The IIVO system acts as a central hub for all controls, allowing the team to operate with energy efficiency.
"Through our collaboration with Hoogendoorn, we’ve gained much clearer insights, allowing us to work far more efficiently," says Roy. "The time we save is spent on the plants, which improves their quality, ensuring that consumers can enjoy our plants for an even longer time.”
As a result, the IIVO system has not only improved energy and climate management at Opti-flor, but it has also enhanced the quality of their plants. The partnership with Hoogendoorn helps the company strengthen its position as a market leader in orchid production and continue to satisfy their customers across Europe.
