About Rocket Farms

Rocket Farms is the third largest wholesale grower of indoor flowers, fresh cut herbs and potted edibles in the country, and second largest in California. Their multiple growing facilities are spread throughout Half Moon Bay and the Salinas Valley, in California, USA. A full range of edible herbs, fruits and vegetables are grown year-round in over 70 hectares of mixed growing facilities, and are supplied to retailers across the country.

Challenge
Corwin Graves, Head Grower: “Last year we were looking for a process computer to control our 38 climate zones with heating, ventilation,
screens, lighting and more than 200 irrigation valves. One of the requirements was to find a system that allows us to fine-tune the
production environment to suit a variety of crop types. Our aim is to have freedom in defining our own strategy in which we can set multiple
influences for a variety of factors to realize precise control.”

Solution & Results

Corwin Graves “We had positive experience with our previous system, the Hoogendoorn Economic. So, in 2015 we purchased the new Hoogendoorn next generation iSii process computer to regulate climate, irrigation and energy installations in one of our 10 hectare glass greenhouses. The greatest benefit is that it provides us complete control over a variety of greenhouse parameters. Until now we have not been in a situation where the iSii could not provide the control desired. We rely greatly on climate overviews, graphs and reports to help ensure that the climate is correct. The graphs themselves are very convenient, since they allow us to look at multiple variables within a single area if desired. This is sometimes necessary when diagnosing a climate issue. After the installation
we have a more consistent environment, a reduction in fungal pathogens and better utilization of labor. I have recommended Hoogendoorn to others and will continue to do so, mostly due to the service and ongoing support that has been provided. There is almost always a single point of contact for sales, installation and support. Support is prompt and there is always a familiar voice on the other end of the line.”
