‘Grow with Intelligence’ at World Expo 2025 in Osaka
Looking Back: ‘Grow with Intelligence’ at World Expo 2025 in Osaka
On June 10, 2025, Hoogendoorn Growth Management proudly hosted its signature event, ‘Grow with Intelligence’, at the World Expo in Osaka. This inspiring day was dedicated to showcasing the future of greenhouse horticulture - a future shaped by intelligent algorithms, autonomous growing, and sustainable innovation.
The event was officially opened by Jean Rummenie, Dutch Minister for Fishery, Food Security, Horticulture, and Nature Conservation. His speech underlined the critical role of Dutch innovation in global food security and horticultural progress. Although he did not mention Hoogendoorn by name, his words strongly emphasized the importance of our mission and our contribution to the industry.
Round-table: insights from Japan's horticultural leaders
A key highlight of the day was the round-table discussion led by Hoogendoorn’s Robin Urbanus. The panel featured:
• Eri Hayashi (PhD), President of the Japan Plant Factory Association
• Hiroaki Kitakoshi, Senior Specialist at Farmind Corporation
• Representatives from Daisen, Hoogendoorn’s trusted Japanese partner Mikihiro Kawai (Section Manager) and Zakir Hossain (Technician)
• Christopher Levin, PhD student in horticulture at the University of Tokyo
Together, they explored the current challenges and opportunities in Japanese horticulture, touching on topics such as labor shortages, knowledge sharing, and the increasing importance of collaboration across the horticultural value chain.
Launch of Intelligent Irrigation
The event also marked the global launch of Intelligent Irrigation, a new feature within the IIVO platform. Presented simultaneously at GreenTech Amsterdam, this innovation empowers growers worldwide to manage irrigation more intelligently, sustainably, and autonomously — a significant step forward in precision horticulture.
Japanese partnership at the forefront
Throughout the event, our Japanese partners Daisen and Inochio took the stage to share how technology and innovation are shaping horticulture in Japan. Their contributions highlighted the strength of international partnerships and how local challenges can be addressed through smart, collaborative solutions.
A day to remember
The ‘Grow with Intelligence’ event was not just about technology — it was about connecting people, cultures, and visions. From the cultural performance by the Nadeshiko Orchestra to thought-provoking keynotes and open discussions, the day truly brought the theme of intelligent growth to life. We look back on a successful and inspiring event, and we sincerely thank everyone who joined us and made this day unforgettable.
