Luuk Tom - Warehouse Operator
"No day is the same at Hoogendoorn."
After a diverse career, in which I worked as a newspaper delivery boy and a seasonal worker at a campsite in France, I took on various roles, from bartender and cook to entertainer and technical staff. After returning to the Netherlands, I worked for many years in horticulture with succulents, starting as a logistics employee and progressing to logistics team leader. After more than eight years, I made the transition to the construction sector in a similar role.
However, I realized that I was not completely in the right place and no longer found joy in my work. I decided to take a step back in terms of position to regain job satisfaction. When I came across the vacancy for warehouse operator at Hoogendoorn, it immediately appealed to me. I was already familiar with Hoogendoorn because, in the horticulture company where I previously worked, Hoogendoorn systems were used.
What makes my job at Hoogendoorn so enjoyable is the variety. No two days are the same. One day, I am busy building crates, while the next, I am registering materials. In addition to working with colleagues, I also have contact with partners, dealers, and suppliers, which makes the job dynamic and interesting.
Since starting at Hoogendoorn in August last year, I have been given a lot of freedom to take initiative and implement improvements. One of the highlights of my work so far was the renovation of the warehouse. Another proud moment was preparing five crates for export within just a few days.
What positively surprised me about Hoogendoorn is that the company truly delivers on its promises. Many companies claim to uphold certain values, but at Hoogendoorn, they actually follow through.
Looking ahead, I see myself and Hoogendoorn continuing to grow together, both in knowledge and success.
